Dr. Nancy Holekamp on Fluid in nAMD: A Pragmatic Approach

Dr. Nancy Holekamp explores the impact of retinal fluid compartments on visual outcomes in neovascular AMD, emphasising a pragmatic approach. Evidence from post hoc and prospective trials shows that residual sub-retinal fluid (SRF), up to 100 microns, does not negatively affect visual acuity and may even be associated with improved outcomes compared to intra-retinal fluid (IRF). IRF consistently correlates with worse visual acuity and should be fully eradicated, while stable SRF can be tolerated.
